Law Concerning the Improvement of Employment Management, Etc. of Part-Time
Workers (Part-Time Work Law)
CHAPTER II. BASIC POLICY PLAN ON PART-TIME WORKERS
Article 5. The Minister
of Health, Labour and Welfare shall formulate a basic policy on measures
concerning the promotion of employment management and human resources
development and improvement in order to promote the welfare of Part-Time
Workers (hereinafter in this Article referred to as the “Basic Policy
Plan on Part-Time Workers”).

Matters included in the Basic Policy Plan
on Part-Time Workers shall be as follows: |

(1) |
matters concerning trends in the vocational activities of Part-Time
Workers; |
| |
(2) |
matters that should be regarded as necessary guidelines on measures
taken for promoting the Improvement of Employment Management, Etc.
for Part-Time Workers, and human resources development and improvement;
and |

(3) |
in addition to matters listed in the preceding two items, matters
that should be regarded as necessary guidelines on measures taken
for promoting the welfare of Part-Time Workers. |

The Basic Policy Plan on Part-Time Workers
shall be formulated in due consideration of working conditions, awareness
and the actual conditions, etc. of Part-Time Workers. |
| 4. |
In formulating the Basic Policy Plan on
Part-Time Workers, the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare shall
hear the opinions of the Labour Polilcy Council in advance. |
| 5. |
When the Minister of Health, Labour and
Welfare has formulated a Basic Policy Plan on Part-Time Workers, he
or she shall make it public without delay. |
| 6. |
The provisions of the preceding two paragraphs
shall apply mutatis mutandis to modification of the Basic Policy Plan
on Part-Time Workers. |
